The Neon Museum in Las Vegas is becoming even more brilliant.
After receiving accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums in August 2021 – only 3,000 of the approximately 30,000 museums in the U.S. have received that honor – the Neon Museum Monday announced an upgrade to one of its most notable attractions.
Brilliant!, a 360-degree audiovisual show, has been upgraded to include a new Las Vegas Luminaries mural and renamed Brilliant! Jackpot.
“With the reimagination of the North Gallery, we wanted to create an experience that enhanced the museum’s popular Brilliant! show, which has been upgraded to Brilliant! Jackpot with more music and new video,” said Neon Museum Executive Director Aaron Berger in a statement.
The Neon Museum worked with Las Vegas-based artists on the Las Vegas Luminaries mural that pays tribute to the region’s diverse communities and lesser-known citizens who have impacted the area. The mural, which can be viewed outside the museum for free, acts as a gateway to the newly reconfigured Brilliant! Jackpot attraction, which now features an expanded playlist showcasing visuals and music from different eras of Vegas history, including contributions by women, LGBTQ artists, and musicians of color.
Many of the songs will be featured on the Neon Museum’s Spotify playlist.
“The North Gallery now helps raise awareness about unique individuals who have shaped Las Vegas culturally,” Berger said.
“We also added interactive educational elements that allow visitors to take a deeper dive into the history highlighted in the show as well as the science of neon signs,” Berger added. “Ultimately, our goal is to make the North Gallery a comprehensive and unforgettable experience.”
Other new elements in the North Gallery include a video by Brilliant! creator Craig Winslow on using technology to bring non-operational neon signs back to life, and docent-led demonstrations of neon signs.
