Philadelphia is bringing back its mask mandate on April 18. Masks will be required indoors again at places including Live! Casino Philadelphia, Rivers Casino and the Wells Fargo Center. Increasing COVID case counts (142 new daily cases) moved the city into the second tier of its COVID response systems which calls for mask precautions.

During a Philadelphia Department of Health press conference on Tuesday, city health commissioner Cheryl Bettigole said:

“I hoped we wouldn’t be meeting like this, but here we are. We hope by having folks mask up in public indoor spaces we can get ahead of the wave and keep it from reaching a peak like we saw in January.”
